75 units of electricity free for consumers: Govt’s innovative scheme
Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai will tomorrow inaugurate the state government’s innovative scheme of providing up to 75 units of free electricity to more than 3.78 lakh Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe families of the state. This is a scheme to provide 75 units of free electricity per month to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes families with BPL cards living in all rural and urban areas of the state.
All the Eskoms of the state have made the SC-ST consumers aware about the scheme, electricity meter gauges and village electricity representatives have gone door to door and distributed leaflets about the scheme.
Bescom, Sescom, Gescom, Hescom and Mescom companies have already started awareness campaigns about this and SC ST customers are eager to benefit from the scheme.
Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai Dr. BR Ambedkar had announced this project on his 115th birth anniversary. This scheme has been implemented in 8 districts of BESCOM since July, Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe families will get up to 75 units of electricity free of cost.
The amount of electricity charges up to 75 units is S. Government will pay C-ST customers through DBT. Customers can avail this scheme by providing BPL Card, Aadhaar Card and Caste Certificate.
BESCOM has developed a software to compile information on the number of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes customers under BESCOM and the amount of subsidy payable by the government for the 75 units they have used every month.
