Karnataka Animal Husbandry Department is planning to purchase ‘Gow Urine’ and Gomaya to help farmers earn additional income.
Initially, the department will get them from targeted Goshalas. It plans to use cow urine and dung to manufacture various employment generating products.
The state government, which is currently giving grants to some private cow sheds, is planning to establish at least 100 cow sheds in the coming days. Some of them have already started.
The department has already identified land for cowsheds in all districts and also has cows for grazing. Taking it forward, the government has now decided to make it profitable for the farmers.
Currently they are setting up facilities like cow sheds. Many private monasteries and organizations, including Rashtrothtana Parishad, are converting cow urine and cow dung into useful products.
This includes biogas, dyes, shampoos, pesticides, ointments and many more. Once we have our own cow sheds, we can collect both cow urine and cow dung in these places.
We have 20 to 100 acres of land to collect cow dung and convert it into units for manufacturing products. The minister said that the Karnataka team will study the Chhattisgarh model.
“I visited Uttar Pradesh and Varanasi in Maharashtra. There they make biofuel.
They manufacture 35 products at Kinneri Mutt in Maharashtra.
But, he said, the projects are in the initial stage. Sources in the department said that they will discuss this with Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai.
It also helps farmers who complain that raising old cattle is a burden. It is profitable. If we have our own units, we can help the farmers, he said.
