Home is a basic human need and it is the wish of Prime Minister Modi that everyone in the country should get a home by 2022. For this aspiration, the central government has launched the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. This includes the poor, lower class, middle class, low income earners, employees etc.
It also provides interest subsidies on housing loans to eligible candidates belonging to economically weaker, low-income and middle-income groups. Thus this program is divided into two categories namely PMAY Urban (PMAY – U) and PMAY Rural (PMAY – G) benefiting urban and rural people respectively.

Step 1: Identify the category for which you are eligible for PMAY.
Step 2: After that visit the official website: https://pmaymis.gov.in/
Step 3: Click on ‘Citizen Assessment’ in the main menu and select the applicant category.
Step 4: You will be redirected to another page where you have to enter your Aadhaar details.
Step 5: Fill the online PMAY application with your personal, income, bank account details and current residential address.
Step 6: Enter the captcha code, check the details for accuracy and submit it.
Who are the beneficiaries and eligibility
Beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana can be classified as follows on the basis of annual income
Middle Income Group 1 (MIG1): Rs 6 lakh to Rs 12 lakh
Middle Income Group 2 (MIG2): Rs 12 lakh to Rs 18 lakh
Low Income Group (LIG): Rs 3 lakh to Rs 6 lakh
Economically Backward Class (EWS): Up to 3 lakhs
Beneficiary family includes husband, wife, unmarried sons and unmarried daughters.
